Stack Overflow and OpenAI join forces in a new API partnership, combining the leading technical expertise platform with the most popular AI models to empower developers with the best of both worlds.
Stack Overflow and OpenAI announced a groundbreaking partnership that aims to power AI models and provide unprecedented access to technical expertise for developers around the world.
Through OverflowAPI, OpenAI users will have access to an accurate and validated database powered by Stack Overflow, enabling AI tools to quickly find solutions to complex problems, while developers can stay focused on their priority tasks. Additionally, OpenAI will integrate validated technical knowledge directly from Stack Overflow into ChatGPT, making it easier for users to access trusted, highly technical information backed by the millions of developers who have contributed to the Stack Overflow platform over 15 years.
Through this collaboration:
OpenAI will utilize Stack Overflow’s OverflowAPI product and collaborate with the platform to improve the performance of its AI models, thereby improving the experience for developers using its products. This integration will allow OpenAI to improve its AI models using enhanced content and feedback from the Stack Overflow community, providing community awareness within ChatGPT to drive deeper engagement with content.
In turn, Stack Overflow will leverage OpenAI models as part of OverflowAI development, working together to leverage insights from internal testing and maximize the performance of OpenAI models. This collaboration will advance OpenAI’s mission to empower the world to develop technology through collective knowledge, enabling Stack Overflow to create better products that benefit the health, growth, and engagement of the Stack Exchange community.
